Geographic position

The spa is located at 360 m over the sea level, in the lower Carpathian Mountains, on the river Hinta valley, 2o km far from Ramnicu Valcea.

Natural curative factors

The hypo-tonic mineral waters contain sulphur, chlorine, iodine, bromine, sodium, and bicarbonate with 38.3%o mg bro¬mine, and 41.8%o mg iodine. The sulphurous salty waters concentration is 160 g%o and they contain 0.350g%o sulphurous hydrogen. The mineral waters for internal cure have a low concentration of sulphurous hydrogen and chlorine but they are rich in bicarbonates; the climate is sparing.

Otorhinolarynologic affections (chronic rhino-sinusitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, mycosis), breathing affections (allergic bronchitis asthma, chronic bronchitis, tracheal-bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema); degenerative and articular rheumatic affections, post¬traumatic sequels, neurological affections (paresis, poliomyelitis sequels), associated ailments (gynecological, endocrine and professional diseases).

Contraindications

Infectious contagious diseases, venereal diseases, malign tumors, hemorrhage, pregnancy from the 3rd month on, psychic disorders, and tuberculosis.

Historical information

The mineral waters were discovered in 1874 and therapeutically used in 1879. In 1887, an establishment for therapeutic baths (29 cabins and 2 pools) was established in 1887; Palace Hotel, the Central Ward for baths and the Casino were built from 1911 to 1914.

Climate

The climate is continental, with Mediterranean influence, with cool summers and mild winters. The annual average temperature is 11.1„aC. The winds blow rarely. The rainfalls are moderate (800mm a year).
