Historical information

In 1850 Sovata has been introduced in the spas` national patrimony. Between 1860-1880, people built the majority of the villas from the resort.

Climate

The climate is specific to a depression, with cool summers and cold winters. The annual average temperature is 7.6 C and the rainfalls quantity is 750mm a year.

Mineral resources content

By their helium-thermal effect, the salty mineral waters from Ursu Lake made the spa to be famous. The salty waters get warm, having different temperatures at different depths (19-20 C on the surface, 30-40 C at 1m depths, 40-60 C at 1.5m depths). The salt content is 40 -250 g/l.
